NBMed - Interdisciplinary Graduate Training Program in Nanotechnology for Biology and Medicine

The NBMed program, sponsored by the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, focuses on a new frontier for scientific exploration; the interface between nanotechnology, biology and medicine for creating new diagnostics and therapeutics to detect, treat, cure, and prevent human diseases. It is our goal to train engineers and scientists to become adept at the manipulation of the cell/nanotech interface from the physical, materials, and biological perspectives.
  • New students will be recruited into the NBMed program yearly.
  • An annual stipend is rewarded to each student.
Participating students will attack a broad class of scientific challenges. For example they will map protein-protein interactions and detect signaling molecules and receptors in real time.
They will also micromanipulate cells and organelles in vivo, image single molecules in live cells, micro- and nanoscale synthesis, biocompatibility, multiplexed imaging, nano-, micro-fluidics, and many more.
